Manager success as defined by post season appearances and %. (2031)
I wrote this piece up a few seasons ago. I am happy I have the time and energy right now to do a follow up. I had to write this in 8 or 9 different sittings and the manager history in the game was somehow reset at the 2016 season so I am a little concerned about accuracy. If anyone notices something I missed I would appreciate a message.
Thx,
LP
With baseball, more than any other sport, I judge the success of an organization on post season berths. I see the baseball post season as more of a crap shoot than any other sport. With this in mind I threw a few numbers together to look at the success rates of some of the managers in our league. For the purpose of sample size I excluded General Managers with under 5 season’s experience. This is the current manager’s chart.

Nutlaw took over the top spot in the Active Manager Appearance table. Over 19 seasons he has reached the post season at a 73% rate. That is one hell of a run. Nice job Nutlaw!
Josia is holding 2nd looks to stay there for a while with a nice looking young pitching staff.
KW and I are behind with 10. Portland has had a rough time the last 4 seasons, before that KW was one of the most successful GMs at putting his team in a position to win reaching 10 times in 14 seasons from 2014-2027. My trading obsession led to 3 years out of the playoffs, hopefully this season we will build on our current 6 season streak. I think the record is 7 seasons; hopefully we can tie it at the end of 2032.
Injury Log has proved to be a formidable manager since joining in 2021. He currently holds the top spot for % of seasons resulting in a post season berth for managers over 10 seasons at the helm. He is the only manager with 10 seasons under his belt that has reached the Playoffs over 80% of the time. I find this impressive. To me it means he has been able to survive the player turnover due to retirements, injuries, talent drops and cap constraints, an impressive managerial job.
All Time Post Season Appearances
As I was pulling the numbers for the first chart I noticed a few names in the Owner History that I did not recognize and decided to run an all time chart to see how we stack up against some of our predecessors.
Without further ado…

Nutlaw became the All-Time leader in post season appearances this season. In 2031 he tied former Wichita War Eagle Captain Asharak. Manhattan is the model for regular season excellence.
Currently Palookas is tied with 3 other managers for highest percentage but none of them managed for over 10 seasons.
Footnotes
(1) Gromit (I think) was also another screen name, which I cannot recall for the life of me.
(2) Don D. was a G.M. twice running the Athens and Detroit franchises.
